Why choose Longbow Cruising?

Do any of the following sound like you? If so, we hope that a Longbow cruise might be what you're looking for...

I've never sailed before and ...

  • I'd like to take it easy to start with
  • I don't want to have to share a cabin with a stranger
  • I'm hoping my family will like it too
  • I don't have all the right gear
  • I'm not sure I'm strong or fit enough
  • it all sounds a bit too much like suffering!
  • I want a holiday from cooking and domestic chores.

I've sailed a bit before and ...

  • I'm not quite ready to be a skipper just yet
  • my family aren't that keen
  • I'd like to try Scotland this time
  • I want to learn a bit more without being on a course
  • I want to sail a bit further afield
  • does it really have to be that uncomfortable?
  • I want a holiday from cooking and domestic chores.

I've done a lot of sailing but ...

  • my family aren't that keen
  • I want to sail a bit further and more adventurously
  • I'd like to sail on a bigger boat for once
  • bareboat chartering can be very stressful particularly when things go wrong
  • I am always anxious going ashore and leaving a boat at anchor
  • we're always arguing about who should be skipper!

If that sounds like you then read on!

Longbow Cruising has specifically attempted to respond to these concerns by providing

  • an owner/skipper who understands these worries and who will modify the cruise to suit the group;
  • a welcome to beginners and experienced sailors alike;
  • a high quality, comfortable and exceptionally spacious yacht which can still be chartered by a single family or small group;
  • an all inclusive deal (no hidden charges): safety gear, foul-weather clothing, bedding, food etc. are included;
  • versatility in charter periods, sailing grounds and themes: the West Coast of Scotland provides sheltered waters and safe anchorages;
  • instruction in all aspects of sailing and cruising appropriate to the group;
  • a welcome to families with children by providing suitable activities and interests;
  • the freedom to participate in the sailing as much or as little as desired.
  • All food is provided and prepared for you. You will be asked in advance whether you have any particular dislikes or allergies.

Obviously having a skipper and mate aboard does not allow for complete privacy but they do have their own cabin so their presence need not be intrusive, particularly in the evenings. With a high proportion of guests returning, the experience and expertise that is provided has proved to outweigh any disadvantages.
